MY BREATH

Nefesim İç Kapak

A New Breath, Reminds Us Of the Clarinet

Nefesim is an album vitalised by the young performer Serkan Çağrı. Featured by Akustik Production, Nefesim is a work which appears to excite the music lovers with its substantial repertoir and istrumental performance.

The clarinet, which is generally considered an instrument of entertainment, exhibits an emotional performance in this album contrary to the common knowledge. The young musician adds up a warm touch to the listener’s soul with his music background going back to his childhood, his education, his command of the instrument and his inner pursuit.

There are twelve distinct and impressive performances in Çağrı’s album, who is a studio performer and has drawn attention with his TV serial sound tracks. Along with Aegean, Thracia and Rumelia regions’ instrumental folk musics, different ethnical musics such as Azerbeijani, Macedonian and Greek also take place in the album which is arranged by three different arrangers.

The Impressive Performance Skills of the Clarinet in Different Genres

My Coy Love- an Azerbeijani folk song which evokes a nostalgic emotion, Sutka O’ra- a Macedonian folk song which exhibits a local joy with all its timbres with the contributions of Feymiye Çelik and Feryal Öney from Kardeş Türküler, Karşı Kıyı and Rom- the performances with Greek breezes, the contrabass ornamented with Jazz timbres, From the Past performed with brush and electronic piano, Out of Breath which takes shape with the dynamic duet of the world wide recognised vocalist Yıldız İbrahimova, Voice of Solitude accompanied by Sumru Ağıryürüyen, all indicate the wide range of the album and the variable performance skills of the clarinet.

Along with celebrity studio performers such as Erdem Sökmen, Göksel Baktagir, Derya Türkan, Murat Aydemir, Buzuki Orhan, Bülent Ay, Yaşar Akpençe, Kempa and Istanbul Stringed Band, young musicians such as Serhan Yastıman, Mete Aslan Bekir Sakarya, Mert Ali İçelli also add color to the album with their instruments.

There are the drum, the bass guitar, the classical- acoustic- alectro guitar, the darbuca, the tabla, the bendir, the tambourine, the cymbal, asma davul in the substructure of the album which is also accompanied by the accordion, the kanun, the kemençe, the tanbur, the ud, the cümbüş, the buzuki and the balaban. Thus, it seems to draw attention among the albums performed with the clarinet.
